All You Need To Know About Oxy-Fuel Cutting

Cutting of mild steel is no more a tough task, with the emergence of the latest oxy-fuel cutting technique, it’s easier than ever. The oxy-fuel cutting process is used for cutting mild steel, mild steel constitutes 98% iron, 1% manganese, .3% carbon. Though mild steel has various other metals but in a smaller amount.
Elements that remain unaffected by the oxy-fuel current process include phosphorus, sulfur, Silicon, Manganese, molybdenum, nickel, chromium, stainless, aluminum, copper, brass. Oxidization of metal terminates the efficacy of this process by forming a protective crust on metal. The process can treat only those metals which have a melting point lower than the base metal. The other such requirement for the process is: maintaining the ignition temperature during the oxidation reaction between the metal and the oxygen jet and production of gaseous reaction to prevent dilution.
Quality oxy-fuel cut gives a perfect cutting result:
Trimming of Square top corner with minimum radius, Cutting face square in the relation of the top surface and face flat from top to bottom, drawing vertical draglines for a cleaner and smoother surface, and no slag on the bottom edge.

Mild steel is being used in various industries to cut mild steel, this includes cutting of bulb profiles and square tubes, T-bars, flat strips, H-beams, tubes, etc.
Oxy-fuel cutting for mild steel is of great worth as it brings extreme accuracy, possibly trim even the thickest material, and is done in low operational cost. It has a small torch that can reach small spots for higher accuracy. The process is simple with preheating, piercing, cutting, but is also time taking with other minute detailing it needs in between.
How does it work?
To start with the process, the torch with a fueling gas or flame cutting technique preheats the steel to the ignition temperature of around 950°C.  At such a high temperature, the metal lost its properties making it solid and here the oxygen is directed to pierce through the nozzle. This lets it undergo exothermic reaction which transforms the pre-heated steel into oxidized liquid steel. Now, the involved robot performs the flame cutting to produce accurate cuts at a continuous speed. It helps them in reaching out to the corners.

This helps in delivering perfection and precision to metal. Besides, it helps in trimming bevels and thick material. Moreover, it’s a cost-effective process and is a safer alternative to other such processes. For more information call 216-928-0500 visit my website

About Oxy-Fuel Cutting Machines.

Just like welding, cutting is also an important process in heavy duty industries. Cutting is an important procedure as the accuracy and the clean finish is important for any process. When a metal piece of solid thinness is cut, the cutter must make sure that the machine used to cut is as efficient to make a clear cut without any chip or cracked finish. Same ways metals sheets of thinner thickness must be handled carefully. Therefore the importance of a proper cutting machine is equally significant just like a welding machine. Among the other cutting machines, Oxy Fuel Cutting Machines are one of the latest, and let's see about them in brief in this article. Oxy fuel cutting is one such procedure which makes use of pure oxygen for the purpose of cutting metal sheets like that of steel. The point behind the procedure is the oxygen that reacts with the steel; this is where the reaction happens which gives rise to iron oxide. The combustion process happens with the help o...

Functions And Advantages of Plasma cutting machine

Plasma cutter is one of the most efficient tools used in most of the modern industries today to cut through any type of metals. Heavy metals and alloys need to be manipulated to achieve the desired shape and size. It can be extremely difficult to accomplish the task with manual tools such as saws and cutters. Functional Procedures The idea of plasma cutter was generated due to the need for better tools to cut and join aircraft parts during the Second World War. The cutter uses compressed gas and high voltage electrical arc to cut through different types of metals. The compressed gas is passed through a constricted opening. The temperature of the compressed gas is elevated when it is discharged through the opening which creates plasma- the fourth state of matter. When the compressed gas is passed through the opening in a high temperature, it cuts the molten metal’s into desired shapes. The molten area in the metal is blown off by the high temperature of the plasma. Th...

Functioning of CNC Cutting Machine in Various Industries

Better performance, better cutting scope and cutting speed, high precision, are some of the attributes linked with  CNC cutting machine.  These machines are known for next-level precision in the industrial scenario are hence are adopted by all such industries. Industrial Utility Factors Involved  CNC plasma cutting uses conductive metals to generate electricity which is done by an accelerated jet of the hot plasma torch. These hot plasma cutters are efficient enough to cut all the conductive metals including copper, brass, aluminum, steel for next-level perfection and finish. The application of this CNC plasma cutter is extended for various industries and fabrication shops for salvage and scrapping operations, industrial construction, automotive repair, and restoration, etc., however, it is not limited to this. Irrespective of the industry size, these CNC plasma cutters are being used more often for its exclusive and updated features. This includes precise ...
